Privacy

The controller is the operator of this app, reachable by email at murmel@bognar.net. Requests for access, correction and deletion go to this address.

Everything below stays on your device. We receive none of it.

• Voice recordings in the app's protected storage, until you delete the note
• Transcripts, titles, notes, due dates and tags in the app's database, until you delete them
• Settings, until you change them or delete the app
• Address and token of your own server, the token in the device keychain

On launch, the app loads a list of other apps from apps.bognar.net; it sends nothing about you.

Murmel needs the microphone to record. It records only while you have started a recording. The system shows this while it happens.

The transcript (Apple SpeechTranscriber) and the note made from it (Apple Intelligence) are created on your iPhone. iOS downloads the language packs itself. Apple's privacy policy applies to them.

If you add your own server in Settings and choose it for transcription, Murmel sends the recording to the address you entered. The chosen model, the chosen language and your token go with it. The text comes back and becomes a note on your iPhone.

That server belongs to you or to someone you picked. We run no server and receive nothing. Over the internet the connection is encrypted with https. On your home network the address may use http, and the connection is then unencrypted inside your own network. Whoever runs the server decides what happens to the recording there.

If you turn on “Save to Reminders”, Murmel also stores title, note, due date and checkbox in Apple's Reminders app and reads the checkbox back from there. Whether Reminders syncs through iCloud depends on your Apple settings. Without this switch, Murmel does not access Reminders.

Recordings from the watch go straight to your paired iPhone through Apple's WatchConnectivity. The recording stays on the watch until the transfer has worked, and is then deleted there.

Apple handles the purchase through the App Store. Murmel asks the App Store whether Pro is unlocked. We receive no information about you.

The website is static and sets no cookies. The host (Cloudflare) processes technical connection data when you visit.

• No sharing with third parties
• No location, no contacts, no photos

Delete single notes in the list, and their recording goes with them. Deleting the app removes recordings, notes, settings and the server token. Anything in Apple Reminders stays there until you delete it in the Reminders app.

Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection and the EU General Data Protection Regulation you have the right to access, correction, deletion, restriction and data portability. Because we collect no data, everything concerned is on your device. We are still glad to answer questions at the address above.

Murmel is not aimed at children in particular and collects no data, so none from children either.

If anything important changes, it will be stated here and in the app's release notes.
